We are looking for a super smart and social person to join us in what’s very critical to making change work by making our urgent call for action heard!



This person will be responsible for online strategy development, email campaign and list creation, online community and grassroots outreach efforts, and written/pictorial content for web and social media.



This person’s responsibilities will also include managing our relationship with other online community influencers, including reaching out to other organizations, non profits and donors, for partnerships and endorsement support, external blogs and online communities to promote our campaigns and aid assistance missions overall. The ideal candidate is an energetic and strategic thinker, creative, an excellent writer, and internet-savvy being immersed in what it means to "live life online".



 



This is a 6-12month flexible but full-time position located in either our Accra, Ghana office with the potential to become long-term, or remotely.



Regardless of location, close coordination with our very intimate and small team is required.



 



Job Responsibilities



Help design and implement online advocacy campaign to mobilize NGOs to cooperate and engage one another. With the objective of disseminating NGO and humanitarian project information online and directly to humanitarian actors, while campaigning for transparency and coordination.





  • Creating and executing a recruitment strategy to grow organizational database/list of humanitarian actors (NGOs, donors, volunteer organizations, etc)







  • Create and manage online initiatives including viral campaigns, online advertising, online/offline strategies Implement and monitor test plans, metrics, and analysis of online constituent mobilization campaigns


  • Monitor trends in online and social media tools and applications and provide regular feedback to management and staff of insights gained from such monitoring


  • Drafting email actions that inspire people to take action, whether that means signing a petition, forwarding an online video, or calling one’s contact numbers


  • Leveraging headlines to launch fast-breaking campaigns that get the attention of media outlets, foreign governments, and the public at large


  • Manage presence in social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter, and similar community sites, posting on relevant blogs, and seeding content into social media applications as needed


  • Report on actionable statistics - primarily email but also some select web metrics


  • Monitor trends in online and social media tools and applications and provide regular feedback to management and staff of insights gained from such monitoring


  • As international advocacy becomes implemented, additional responsibilities may include:


  • Lead the team to follow set protocol when interacting within online communities


  • Become an advocate of the organizational mission in social media spaces, engaging in dialogues and answering questions where appropriate





 



Qualifications





  • 2+ years experience in online communications/strategy with a strong focus on Web 2.0+ technologies or Strong, demonstrated experience running online campaigns


  • Very friendly and positive attitude, with understanding of professional, cultural, and industry language to be used


  • Experience with online community building and grassroots organizing strongly preferred


  • Excellent understanding of Internet technology and social media platforms and how they can be deployed in different scenarios


  • Experience with blogs, social networking sites, and email list communications


  • Solid project management experience


  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and perform problem analysis and resolution at strategic and functional levels


  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, especially writing and content creation


  • Possesses functional knowledge or some experience with HTML/CSS


  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products


  • Knowledge of search engine optimization a plus


  • Ability and willingness to work in a quiet, demanding, and unstructured environment and taking constant initiative
