Description | A reputable power plant company is looking to hire an Assistant Electrical Engineer who will perform preventive, scheduled and major repairs on power plant electrical equipment and will be in charge of vehicle purchasing processes, insurance, maintenance and control of security tools in all vehicles. Key responsibilities include; Maintenance of 400V and medium voltage switchgear electrical systems (consistent with TGIOC electrical safety practices). Perform electrical predictive data collection for transformer oil monitoring equipment (Hydran), generator Permanent Rotor insulation Monitoring System (PRIMS), Rotor Flux Monitoring (RFM) and Partial Discharge Analyser (PDA). Operate fork lifts, trucks and other plant vehicles. Carry out planned preventive, running and/or breakdown maintenance to ensure efficient, effective, safe and uninterrupted functioning of the thermal plant and other equipment as well as safeguarding their life span. Properly rig and lift motors and other electrical equipment with overhead and mobile cranes. Maintain records of electrical system modifications (including temporary lines and connections). Investigate and prepare reports on unusual incidents involving equipment excursions and malfunctions. The successful candidate must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of two (2) years working experience in a similar position. Experience in troubleshooting and maintaining power plant electrical equipment such as AC and DC distribution systems, motor controls, generators, building auxiliaries and auxiliary equipment is mandatory. The ideal candidate should have had experience in the maintenance and repair of electrical equipment such as gas turbine, steam turbine, generator, boiler, heat recovery steam generator, water treatment equipment, combustion and steam turbine electrical equipment, motor control centres, and all other balance of plant auxiliary electrical equipment. Must demonstrate the ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations and must be willing to work on any schedule including nights and weekends.
