Description | A reputable power plant company is looking to hire an Assistant Instrumentation & Control Engineer who will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairs, tuning and modifying plant control system components and equipment. Diagnose and repair the cause of instrument and control system malfunctions including transmitters, programmable logic controllers (PLC’s), plant or distributive control systems, flow meters, pressure probes, temperature probes, vibration probes and level probes. Perform instrument loop checks and field calibrations and suggests modifications to enhance control systems and also tune control circuits to optimize performance. Install new control and instrumentation equipment as required. Conduct daily inspection of the Plant for any defects and prepare reports on unusual incidents involving equipment excursions related to control system malfunctions. The successful candidate must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation & Control or a related discipline with a minimum of two (2) years working experience in a similar position preferably with combustion turbines within the Power and Mining industries. Must have industrial, marine or utility training in control equipment associated with power generation and a good working knowledge of PLC & SCADA systems. Experience with Mark VIe control system for the GE frame 9E gas turbine, GE SC5 steam turbine and GE Mark VIe DCS is preferred. Must demonstrate the ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations and must be willing to work on any schedule including nights and weekends. |
